CDM AmeriCorps partners with after school and summer programs in the Dallas area to provide over 60 year-round and 130 summer AmeriCorps members each year.  Members serve as leaders working with at-risk youth age 7-14 years old.  Members assist with homework, curriculum development, arts & crafts and other educational and enrichment activities.

CDM AmeriCorps also partners with various hunger relief and community development organizations to provide over 70 year-round and 50 summer AmeriCorps members this year.  Members serve in at-risk neighborhoods developing, renovating and building sustainable and affordable housing.  In addition members serve with hunger relief programs in food acquisition including pick up and delivery and physical distribution of food resources to the community.

CDM hosts 10 VISTA members who help increase capacity of the organization as well as operate, market and expand the CDM thrift store.  All proceeds from the store help fund CDM programs.  VISTA members serve full time over a year-long term.

AmeriCorps provides opportunities for 75,000 Americans to give back to their communities and country each year.  AmeriCorps is funded by the Corporation for National and Community Service and consists of three main programs:

AmeriCorps State and National, whose members serve with more than 2,600 national and local nonprofit and community groups; AmeriCorps VISTA, through which members serve full time fighting poverty; and AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps), a team-based residential program for young adults 18-24 who carry out projects in public safety, the environment, youth development, and disaster relief preparedness.

CDM received an AmeriCorps State and National grant in October of 2006 by the OneStar Foundation, the Texas State Service Commission appointed by Governor Rick Perry.  CDM AmeriCorps currently partners with almost 20 local organizations by providing AmeriCorps members to expand and enhance existing programs.  Beginning in September 2009 - CDM AmeriCorps will manage one of the largest programs in North Texas, hosting almost 350 AmeriCorps members a year in the Dallas area serving in three distinct Corps - Education, Neighborhood Revitalization and Thrifty VISTA.
